Moulsecoomb Primary School in Brighton is being forced by the government to become an academy against the wishes of staff, parents and the community.
The Pioneer Academy which is based in South London knows this, (96% of parents voted against academisation ), but are trying to take the school over by September 2021 anyway.
However, the huge march on Saturday May 15 (and some incredible direct action during the week to keep the CEO of Pioneer out of the school) shows what a powerful anti-academisation campaign this is. The community has already stopped three attempts to academise the school – and no-one is in any doubt that they can stop this atttempt too, no matter how many powerful friends Pioneer may have.
