Supporters of the Birmingham binworkers – on strike for over a year to stop an £8,000 a year pay cut – blockaded depots again on Friday, ahead of an injunction hearing brought by the council to stop all protests in support of the strike altogether. If the injunction was successful, anyone breaching it could face a jail sentence of up to 2 years.
While the blockades were very successful again, the injunction wasn’t – the judge decided to “reserve his decision”, meaning he now has up to three months to deliver his written verdict. It is expected to come much sooner than that, but still no update four days later …
So more tax payers money wasted by this disgusting Labour council, who have already spent £35 million unsuccessfully trying to break this strike; isn’t this the time to just come back to the table and talk, as everyone has been demanding they do for months now?
