Millions took action in the USA on Mayday against Trump and his allies’ plans to relax the lockdown and put workers’ lives in danger – calling for “No work, no shopping, no rent, no jails”.
The peoples’ strike saw people joining in on walkouts, sickouts, lunchbreak protests, rent strikes, car caravans, detention centre hunger strikes, boycotts of Amazon and other retailers not protecting their workers, buying nothing for the day, and simply taking the day off.
The organisers are now planning to have peoples strikes on the 1st of every month until their basic demands are met, with the ultimate aim to push for a genral strike. They want a “people’s bailout” for a proper lockdown that keeps workers safe, and a new world which takes power away from the rich and the corporations.
