Healthworkers do a banner drop outside Parliament as they go into a second wave of COVID-19 that they know they are completely unprepared for.
640 healthworkers died unnecessarily during the first wave, and now many are seriously considering leaving because of the poor pay, and the lack of a proper test, track and trace system to control the spread of the virus.
Giving this work to the private sector has been a complete disaster – we need NHS workers running the system, who have the expertise to do it, and all NHS workers need a 15% pay rise immediately before the system collapses.
