Yet again this morning, people supporting the Birmingham binworkers strike picketed two depots and severely disrupted refuse collections at Perry Barr, and here at Atlas depot.
The fact that people are turning out to do this in the worst weather imaginable shows the strength of feeling in support of workers facing a paycut of 8K – while the council, instead of negotiating, refuse to meet and have now spent in excess of £35 million trying to break the strike.
Birmingham City Council: you must know now that your desperate and irresponsible tactics aren’t going to work. So why don’t you get back round the table and talk – as the entire city is desperate for you to do?
