On Sunday September 29th protests were held across Spain in solidarity with those arrested and attacked in Madrid the previous Tuesday. The protests were also against the latest round of austerity protests announced by the Spanish Parliament.
In Seville hundreds of activists blocked the main road outside the Andalucian Parliament while outnumbered police were forced to look on and redirect the traffic. At one point they tried to record the ID of people they took to be organisers. The rest of protest responded by demanding that the police either take everyone’s details or back off. They backed off.
Meanwhile in Madrid tens of thousands of people attended a peaceful rally. Scuffles broke out towards the end with police then attacking bars near the protest. The next major mobilisation is scheduled for October 25th.
